Auf meine Reise nahm ich nur zwei kleine Bücher mit. Meine Auswahlkriterien waren vor allem: Es muss klein sein! Doch als ich unterwegs war, begegneten mir nicht nur viele wundervolle Menschen, sondern auch zahlreiche wundervolle Bücher – sowohl in Deutsch als auch in Englisch. Diese über dreizehn Monate gewachsene Liste möchte ich mit euch teilen!
On my travels I took only two tiny books with me. That was the only thing they must be: tiny! But when I was in Down Under, a lot of beautiful people crossed my way and so did a lot of beautiful books – both in German and English. Now I want to share this list of mine, that grew during the thirteen months of travelling!
Alles begann mit „Das kuriose Neuseeland Buch – Was Reiseführer verschweigen“ von S. Barnett und J. McCrystal (ein Geschenk von Gerald, dem ich einen Großteil der Reise verdanke) und „Die Elfen des Sees“ von Monika Felten (ein Ostergeschenk meiner Großmutter).
Nach ein paar Monaten in Down Under entdeckte ich für mich die Lust am Lesen wieder. Während der vorangegangenen Jahre des Studiums hatte ich sie verloren und mich eher mit Filmen und Hörbüchern unterhalten.
Dann, es war bereits in Napier, fing ich an die englischen Bücher im Hostel zu lesen. Ich entdeckte die Second Hand Shops für mich und füllte meinen Van mit Büchern. Neben Klassikern wie Herr der Ringe oder Sherlock Holmes begegneten mir auch viele andere, die es nur in Down Under gab!
Everything started with „Das kuriose Neuseeland Buch – Was Reiseführer verschweigen“ by S. Barnett and J. McCrystal (a gift from Gerald, whom I owe the opportunity to travel) and „Die Elfen des Sees“ by Monika Felten (a gift from my grandma).
After a few months in New Zealand I discovered the joy of reading again. Befor my travel adventures, when I was studying I lost interest in reading just for joy and I watched movies or listened to audiobook to relax.
Then, at the Hostel in Napier, I started to read books in English. I discovered the second hand shops with a good amount of books and I filled my van with reading material. Besides classic likes Lord of the Rings and Sherlock Holmes, I found many other books, that are available only in Down Under!
